Remi from Reflex said he felt that the comment that the bindings needed customizing was unjust. He has developed the new Carbon U which now has better support, and that is what he is personally skiing on.

I get to ski with with guys like Andy Mapple and Kris LaPoint and Will Asher and these guys are tinkerers. They will customize just about anything they get their hands on. If they say something works better when they have tinkered with it, I believe them. That does not go against what Remi says. Andy, Kris and Will are at the top 1/100th of 1% of the skiing world and are always looking for a competitive edge by making their equipment work better.

Remi stated that at Reflex they continually work hard on refining their product and that it does not need customizing. He also stated that slalom skiers like a lower boot (obviously for not initiating any spray on the leg) and trick skiers like a higher boot for more control.

I found that I need to use a sock in my liner for more comfort. Some liners have large nylon threads or seams that can iritate your foot. A sock takes care of that.

So far there is more comfort with the hard shell. I do lock my feet in the binding pretty good and undo the bottom two buckles after each pass when I am sitting in the water, per Andy's recommendation. That way I have more control when I'm in the course. Also, I am finally starting to run 38's again and am probably using hard shells for good.

Tuesday Oct 23.

We produded today a special spoiler for Claire Lize Welter, Currently N°2 on the French ranking. As many snow skiers, Claire-lise likes the stifness and the double buckles that allow to tighten strongly the heel.

A new liner for 2008, is in development.

The opposite of some competitors, Reflex keeps with the straight line of the hardshell advantages by increasing the stiffness between the skier's feet and the ski.

For this reason at Reflex we use a 6mm Eva foam that provides great comfort, while not losing any of the stiffness between the foot and the hardshell. By thermoforming the Eva foam liner, you will produce an accurate shape of your foot. This will allow you to tighten the hardshell around your foot without cutting the blood circulation like with the thick and soft liners available on the market. Sensation of the foot's sole is also very important. You must feel the water !

New front toe:

Stainless steel 35mm diameter bases are on the way to replace the old brass. This change has been done in order to answer the demands of trickskiers and slalom skiers. The new front toe bases have improved the lateral stiffness of the hardshell especially when used on the carbon plates.

Computer design and lab tests have allowed us to produce very stiff carbon fins. Final adjustments are made by Scott Tynan's testing of the fin.

Remi does product testing with a cam on the end of his ski.

At Reflex we are very concerned with the improvements of our new products. After the lab tests, we always water test.

Here Remi is recording the data of the stiffness of the new carbon U with a video cam located on the front of the ski

Danyelle Bennett comes back after her jump crash...

Danyelle recently suffered a crash jumping in Australia, but has recuperated and should be jumping again in a few more weeks. She is already tricking and slalom skiing well and leaves today to go train in England and then the Malibu Open in France. At the US Team Trials she ran 5 @-38 and this past weekend at the Jr. US Open she tricked 7800 points for a new personal best.

The new carbon Upper Cuff:

Allows for more lateral stiffness

Remi Rebillard tests daily the new carbon upper cuff in different versions of stiffness and height. Remi found significant improvement when the carbon upper cuff is bolted to the shell to limit the rear to front flexibility. (See above: The new flex tongue)

For shortboard and slalom waterski shells.

(Available July 07)

Jean-Baptiste Faisy, who is also a snowski instructor, is testing new snowski buckles on Reflex Hardshell.
Jean-Baptiste's objective is to keep the same feeling of stiffness when he waterskis as he has when he snow skis.
These new buckles will be on the new carbon upper cuff.

New rear tongue for slalom:

This new shell especially designed for slalom, has a brake to slow down the frontal flex. It will be possible to reduce the upper cuff movement [front and back] by screwing the spoiler through the brake.
(Available July 07)

New front tongue for slalom:

Like the rear brake, this front plastic tongue will limit the frontal flex to improve comfort and slalom performances.
(Available July 07 as a spare part / will be stitched on liners starting Sept 07)
